Bow Repair and Rehairings

Some musicians get their bow bow rehaired several times a year, and an active student maybe once a year. The need for rehairing changes depending on how much you play, what is your playing technique like, and how much rosin is used when playing.

It's easy to think that a broken bowtip doesn't really matter. However, the tiny piece of bone does have its purpose: it protects the wood.Taking good care of your bow and repairing broken parts is deffinitly worth doing.

An experienced bow-rehairer/repairer has the knowledge of how to get the best out of your bow. It sounds relatively easy to take a right amount of first quality horsetail and lay it evenly between the knots. Nevertheless, we would advise to leave it to an expert, especially if your bow is worth something.
